A fictional story about offering attention without rushing to answer.

A moment to reflect

In this fictional story, two neighbours talk after tidying a shared room. One begins describing a difficult week. The other nearly offers advice, then instead asks what has felt most tiring.

The conversation slows down. There is no dramatic solution, but the person speaking no longer needs to defend their feelings. Listening does not mean agreeing with everything; it gives understanding a chance before a reply.

A simple question can help: would you like me to listen, or think through options with you? Respect the answer and do not pass their story on to others. Trust is often built through the things we choose not to retell.

Fictional demonstration content; not an actual venue or event listing.
